Okay, so while working at home depot (thank god I'm not anymore) I met this girl who is working with her boyfriend on starting this online magazine up for general news, entertainment, business/finances, blah blah blah. Long story short, I met her BF who's basically the CEO of the operation, and was looking for a logo. Cool I thought, this client has a lot of money, and is more than willing to shell out that money for what he wants. I'm not the most experienced artist in the world, but I know what hard work is worth from someone who WANTS your services. He saw my work, and felt strongly that he'd be satisfied with the results, which I'm coo with. 3 weeks later and he's completely changing his initial idea of what he wants it to be. I'm still fine with that, things change. At the end, he's expecting to pay 150? You serious? I didn't post the rest of the work I did for him cuz that doesn't matter in the end. What was his defense? I'm not that well known and he has a friend who worked for marvel who would do it for less. GET HIM TO DO IT THEN, he's your friend you jackass. Of course he's gonna do it for less. I would have at least liked to get 250 out of this, cuz I worked DAMNED hard on making him happy. He was never content with one particular thing, and bounced back and forth between his feelings and his girlfriends. UGH, so frustrating. This is just me ranting about how difficult people can be, and me realizing that I need to be completely upfront about my hourly rates. Never doin business with him again. Not worth it in the least. Am I being irrational? Is 250 TOO much? I originally said 1000 based on the amount of hours spent on this project, and the level this is on, seeing as how he's planning to overtake Boston Globe Magazine. FML >_<
